Recherche

Under the direction of Dr. Phyllis Zelkowitz, the mission of the department’s research division has been to promote research in cultural psychiatry, psychosocial aspects of mental health and medical illness, and etiology and treatment of mental illness.

The department has also established a fellowship program, funded by the Douglas Utting Foundation, for training postdoctoral students in psychotherapy research. To date, five fellows have benefited from this program.

The department’s superb reputation throughout the research community attests to the quality of its work. In fact, department members are routinely invited to give presentations at international conferences; take part in study and policy-making groups around the world; contribute to journals and books as authors, editors and reviewers; and serve as grant reviewers for research-granting bodies. The department has been successful at obtaining peer-reviewed funds from provincial, national, and international agencies such as CIHR, FRSQ, SSHRC, NSERC.
