Évaluation et interventions infirmières en soins critiques

Céline Gélinas a rejoint le Centre de recherche en sciences infirmières en tant que chercheure en 2007. Elle est professeure titulaire à l’École des sciences infirmières Ingram de l'Université McGill, directrice de projet à l’Institut Lady Davis de recherches médicales de l'Hôpital général juif, et co-directrice du Réseau de recherche en interventions en sciences infirmières du Québec (RRISIQ). Détenant une bourse de carrière du Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRSQ) depuis 2009, elle mène un programme de recherche sur la douleur chez les patients adultes en phase critique, en collaboration avec des chercheurs situés en Amérique du Nord et en Europe.

La recherche effectuée dans les domaines des soins infirmiers critiques, de l'évaluation et de la gestion de la douleur, et des processus de mesure s'appuie sur son expérience pratique d'infirmière soignante aux soins intensifs. Elle a développé et validé des outils d’évaluation de la douleur, tels que l'Échelle comportementale de douleur CPOT (le Critical-Care Pain Observation Tool) et le Thermomètre d’intensité de douleur (le Faces Pain Thermometer), qui sont utilisés à des fins cliniques et de recherche au niveau international. L'échelle CPOT, traduite dans plus de 15 langues, a été adoptée par des centaines d'unités de soins intensifs à travers le monde. Elle codirige présentement une équipe financée par l'IRSC travaillant à valider une nouvelle façon de mesurer la douleur, le Nociception Level (NOL) Index (Subvention Projet 2020-2025). Entre 2014 et 2018, elle a également été à la tête du comité chargé de réviser la section sur la douleurde la directive Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Management of Pain, Agitation, and Delirium in Adult Patients in the ICU, publiée par la Society of Critical Care Medicine (https://www.sccm.org/ICULiberation/Guidelines).

Elle a publié dans de nombreuses revues scientifiques et livres, tout en partageant ses projets de recherche à des conférences locales, nationales, et internationales. Ses contributions lui ont valu plusieurs prix, dont le Prix Florence – Enseignement et recherche en sciences infirmières de l’Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) (2021), Pioneering Spirit Award de l'American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (2019), le Prix de début de carrière de la Société canadienne de la douleur (2014), et le Prix Florence – Relève de l'Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (2004). Elle a complété une maîtrise en sciences infirmières (2000) et un doctorat en sciences infirmières et en mesure et évaluation (2004) à l’Université Laval, ainsi qu’un stage postdoctoral en sciences infirmières (2006) à l’Université McGill.
